Manufacturing Technologist
We are looking for someone who understands engineering production as a whole and can turn technical drawings into a workable production process.
You won't focus on a single technology. The role connects CNC machining, welding, metal cutting and forming, assembly, inspection and the downstream production steps.
Not just to prepare processes. To help set how production works.
Our custom production covers machining, welding, steel structure fabrication, cutting, bending and other downstream operations.
We are looking for a technologist who can look at a product as a single whole — from technical drawings and stock selection through to inspection of the finished part.
You will prepare specific orders for production, solve manufacturing problems directly with people on the shop floor, and at the same time help introduce clearer processes and production standards.
We are not looking for a specialist in every single technology. What matters is practical technical thinking, knowledge of engineering production and the ability to find workable solutions.
What the work will involve
- 01Creating and optimising manufacturing and production processes
- 02Defining the order and sequence of production operations
- 03Assessing manufacturability from technical drawings
- 04Helping choose materials, stock, fixtures and the method of production
- 05Introducing new orders and solving problems directly in production
- 06Working with machining, welding, metalwork, quality control, design and purchasing
- 07Evaluating production times and proposing ways to simplify or streamline production
- 08Contributing to standards and to decisions on new technologies and investment
Who we are looking for
We are looking for someone with hands-on experience in engineering production who understands technical drawings and can think about a product in a broader context.
You may come from a role as a manufacturing technologist, production planning engineer, shop supervisor, production manager, machining or welding technologist, or an experienced production worker ready to take the next step.
Experience with production planning, fixtures, time costing, first-article inspection, ERP, CAM or manufacturing software is an advantage.
- a good grasp of technical drawings, tolerances and materials
- knowledge of engineering production principles
- the ability to design a logical production process
- a practical approach and the ability to communicate with people in production
- independence in solving technical problems
What you will be able to shape
You won't just take over finished processes. You will have the scope to shape:
You will work in a varied custom and small-batch production environment with our own premises and broad technological facilities.
Let's first have an informal chat
For a first contact we don't need a formal cover letter. Just write us a few lines about which areas of engineering production you have experience with, what kinds of orders you have handled and what drew you to this opportunity.
